Phil Kesler Attorney at Law
“While I have been recovering millions of dollars for families right here in the stateline for many years, I know that this profession isn’t about the money. Its about taking the stress of injury and loss off the shoulders of the people in my community. This firm has been committed to this for over twenty years, and we’ll continue to do this for the next twenty.” – Phil Kesler
Personal Injury Attorney
My name is Phil Kesler, and I am an Illinois lawyer with a Rockford area practice who represents people who have been seriously injured or killed by the negligence or irresponsible acts of another person or business. I treat all of my clients with the same respect and compassion that I’d treat my own friends or loved ones. My clients deserve someone who fights for their rights, and that person is me.

Get to Know Phil Kesler
Phil Kesler knew at a young age that serving others was his calling. His mother was a special education teacher, a strong advocate for the homeless, and a role model of service. Phil did not enjoy grade school. Minor hearing loss led to late speech development and his second grade teacher wanted to hold him back. Phil’s mother believed in her son and advocated for him. Overcoming this obstacle, with his mother’s help, caused Phil to thrive. By age 12 Phil had obtained his Eagle Scout award. Phil excelled in high school in both extracurricular activities and academics. Phil received the Eli Lilly award which is a full academic and leadership scholarship to college.
Phil’s grandfather, a WWII veteran, practiced law for over 50 years and provided him a strong role model. Grandpa Phil worked hard to do right by people and help them navigate legal issues while never backing down. It was this example that led Phil to law school. Upon graduation Phil knew he wanted to be involved in litigation because he enjoyed advocating on behalf of clients. He knew he could never represent a large corporation or insurance company. He wanted to help regular people like himself take on bullies. Phil is proud to be a trial lawyer and proud of the results he has obtained for his clients.
Phil has lived his grandfather’s legacy by helping regular people obtain extraordinary results. Phil has tried cases to verdict across northern Illinois. Some of his proudest moments include – convincing a jury to award 10 times the pre-suit offer in McHenry County; winning a case he was told was unwinnable in Winnebago County; and receiving the entire amount asked of a Rockford jury in a soft tissue injury case. Phil has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of hundreds of northern Illinois families, all before reaching the age of 40.
Graduating from Wabash College in 2001, Phil Kesler obtained his law degree from Northern Illinois University in 2004. Since that time he has been with our firm working in all aspects of the firm. Phil is licensed to practice before Illinois State Courts, Federal Courts- Northern and Central Illinois Districts, Seventh Circuit Federal Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He serves as an arbitrator for the 17th Judicial Circuit and for private arbitrations. Phil is a member of the million dollar advocate’s forum, multimillion dollar advocate’s forum, Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and American Association for Justice. Phil was rated AV by his peers. This award is important because it is a blind survey of peer attorneys and stands for excellence in both ethics and work product.
Phil Kesler’s results continue to mount, but his willingness to serve has not changed. While being a partner at MacCloskey Kesler and Associates, he was elected to serve on the Byron Community School District Board of Education where he donates hundreds of hours a year on behalf of children. He is often a volunteer coach and has been involved with the Boy Scouts. The firm and his family make donations to local charities annually.
