First Responder of the Year Giveaway 2026

As part of the 2026 First Responder of the Year Essay Contest, MacCloskey Kesler & Associates is proud to give back to the Rockford community with an unforgettable fishing guide experience on a beautiful Wisconsin lake. This community outreach event honors local firefighters, police, EMTs by offering a chance to unplug, connect, and be recognized for the service and sacrifice they give every day.

Official Nomination Terms & Conditions

Eligibility
Nominees must be active or retired first responders who live in or serve the Rockford or Northern Illinois area. Nominators must be 18 years of age or older. Employees of MacCloskey Kesler & Associates and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

How to Nominate
To nominate a first responder, submit a written essay through the official nomination form on this website. The essay should explain why your nominated first responder deserves to be recognized, including their service, character, impact on the community, or personal sacrifices. Nominations may be submitted by friends, family members, coworkers, or members of the public.

Essay Requirements
Essays must be original, written in the nominator’s own words, and submitted in full. Incomplete submissions or duplicate entries may be disqualified. By submitting an essay, the nominator affirms that the content is truthful and that they have permission to share the nominee’s name and story.

Selection Process
First Responders of the Year will be selected by MacCloskey Kesler & Associates based on the quality, sincerity, and substance of the nomination essay. This is a merit-based selection and not a random drawing. Decisions are final.

Prize
Selected recipients will receive a Fishing Guide Trip Giveaway (details subject to availability and scheduling) in Delevan or Geneva. Prize has no cash value and is non-transferable. Travel, lodging, licenses, or additional expenses not expressly stated may be the responsibility of the recipient. Captain John Reddy of Reddy Guide Service will provide the service.

Use of Submissions
By submitting a nomination, nominators grant MacCloskey Kesler & Associates permission to use the essay, nominee’s name, and likeness for promotional purposes, including website content, social media, and press announcements, without additional compensation.

No Purchase Necessary
No purchase or payment of any kind is required to nominate or win.

General Conditions
MacCloskey Kesler & Associates reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the program if circumstances beyond their control affect administration or fairness. Void where prohibited by law.
