If you have been injured in an accident, you already know the road to recovery can be long and tumultuous. As we enter the holiday season, you may find your injuries or trauma will be magnified more than you may expect. At MacCloskey, Kesler & Associates, we have spent decades serving clients involved with personal injury cases and their family members. While we advocate for their best interests in the boardroom and in the courtroom, we can’t help but become invested in their wellbeing. Over the course of our time serving our clients, we have noticed that the holiday season, especially the first one after an accident or incident, can be the most emotional. Here are a few things to consider as you approach this time of year.

Schedule Your Medical Appointments

Your holiday season schedule can get packed quite quickly between family gatherings, work celebrations, and school concerts. Make your own recovery and health a priority by scheduling your medical appointments and therapy sessions for the next few months now. Then, you can schedule your other celebrations around your recovery needs.

Take Time to Rest

Speaking of busy schedules, you will feel like you need to show up and do all the holiday obligations. However, if you are not taking time to rest, you risk setting back your recovery. Instead of trying to schedule in every invitation, commit to only attending the most important ones and never missing moments to rest or recharge.

Ask for Help

You may not be able to go holiday shopping or host your family celebration this year, and that is okay. Instead, enlist your family and friends to fill in those gaps. It can be difficult to ask for help, but your support circle wants to be able to give you the assistance you need. Ask them to run errands for you (or with you), bake or cook your favorite holiday recipes, or take a turn at hosting this year.

This year may be different, and it may make you feel sad, overwhelmed, or disappointed. However, you will create new traditions that will carry you through this time next year, and the year after that. If you are looking for an attorney to represent you in your injury case that will advocate for your interests as well as genuinely care about you and your recovery, call the experienced team at MacCloskey, Kesler & Associates. We are here to help.
