Get To Know Kim MacCloskey and Phil Kesler

These two attorneys are building a legacy of trust, respect, and integrity in personal injury law in Rockford.

In 1998, Kim MacCloskey opened The Law Office of Kim MacCloskey, after practicing plaintiff’s personal injury law with another law firm. Kim’s firm was built on the idea that each case would be handled the way Kim would want his own case handled. Since the beginning, the firm based the practice on this principle, and has grown to include multiple attorneys and a highly trained team of support personnel.

Before going to law school, Kim worked a variety of jobs for 13 years after college. He worked as a warehouse Manager, a Shipping and Receiving Clerk, and spent several years in various manufacturing and heat-treating factories in the Rockford, Illinois area. Kim also spent many years as a professional musician in his spare time, playing bass guitar in several musical projects and still plays on weekends.

Since he had waited so long to go to law school, he knew it was important to do his very best when he got there. He worked hard and applied himself, and eventually graduated in 1989 magna cum laude, with high honors, fourth in his class. After law school he accepted a job with the Internal Revenue Service, but was quickly hired by an insurance defense firm in his home town of Rockford, Illinois. After two years there, he knew he wasn’t comfortable representing insurance companies, so he joined a plaintiffs’ personal injury firm where he stayed for 6 years before opening his own office.

In 2004, Phil Kesler began practicing with the firm as an associate. Phil has dedicated his career to helping injury victims, and shares Kim’s devotion to treating each case as his own. He was made a partner of the firm in 2010.During Phil’s time with the firm, its reputation for success has continued, and the firm has become a recognized leader in personal injury law in the region.

In 2012, the firm changed its name to better reflect its growth as well as the partnership. However, its dedication to providing experienced representation and personal attention to each case remains the same. With this in mind, MacCloskeyKesler & Associates only handles personal injury cases and does not represent insurance companies. Because of the firm’s reputation, most cases settle without trial or without even the need to file a lawsuit.
